Gage's 1st birthday

I put a lot of time and effort into making Gage a fun birthday cake, but it was all for me.  What one year old honestly cares what kind of cake they get as long as they get to stick their hands in it?!  But since this is the last time we will have a baby turning 1, sigh (of sadness, but also relief), I wanted to make it as momentous as possible .

Brianna and Hayden don't look very festive in the pictures because they have been battling the flu.  I was worried I wouldn't get the cake done in time because I spent most of my allotted decorating time taking care of sick kids.  It took me until 8pm, but I finished!  Despite the lack of decorations and jubilant siblings, Gage had a lot of fun and he was able to end the night with his favorite activity of all, a bath!

Just read this, it's funny.

Allie, this is for you (ok, everyone else too), but it was inspired by Allie's last comment.  Mason was quite the sight when we went to to little Caesars to buy the pizza.  He had just started potty training, so I wasn't making him wear pants (for mom's who have yet to potty train a little boy, you have fewer accidents if they have less to pull down).  Well, I didn't think too much about it until we were getting out of the van in the Little Caesars parking lot, and he climbed out wearing only a pair of boxers, snow boots and a jacket.  To say the least, he looked like "trailer trash".  Oh well, he was excited and that's all that mattered.  After we ordered the pizza he started dancing around and announced to all that he had to go pee.  So we ran next door to the frozen yogurt place (in the 10 degree weather) and used their bathroom.  Luckily they didn't discriminate against the pants-less.

And for Sara, I did post it only to make you feel good...  you big silly, I had to show off your awesome Christmas gift and let everyone know how much fun our family had.  Love ya too!

And for Carrie, I should write a book about Mason.  Yesterday while I was upstairs using the computer, I heard some commotion down in the kitchen.  I ran down stairs to discover that Mason had gotten some tortillas and shredded cheese from the fridge, and was currently pulling a frying pan out of the cupboard.  He informed me that he was making himself a quesadilla for lunch... let's just say it's a good thing I didn't wait 5 minutes to go check on him.

Thanks Aunt Sara!

For our family's Christmas present this past December, Sara and Ross gave our family a very fun and creative gift.  The kids had so much fun participating in the process.
Dear Gosney family,
Merry Christmas! For Christmas you get to have a night of totally awesome fun. But there is a catch: I am giving each of the kids a special job. The fun night won't work unless you each do your job. Ready?
Brianna: Your job is to take totally awesome pictures and document the whole night. You get 27 exposures of REAL film! Use them wisely young one.
Hayden: In every young boys life there comes a time when one must decide, "What the heck are we going to eat for dessert?!" That time has come to you Hayden. In your envelope you will find 5 dollars of tastiness. Take these 5 dollars to the store and buy dessert for the family. But remember that these are not just dollars, they are dollars of TASTINESS! You can only buy them on food that is tasty.
Tucker: Yours is a grave responsibility, one that will test your mind, your brain, and your head too. You will find enclosed in your envelope 5 dollars. Go a store of your choosing and purchase delicious beverages for the whole family to enjoy.
Mason: I don't think you realize the responsibility that hangs on your shoulders. But nevertheless, it does. In your special envelope is a gift card to little Caesars for 10 dollars. It is up to you to go to little Caesars and treat the family to pizza. Remember to tell the person: "Give me pizza please, and make it delicious. " Then hand him the magical card.
Gage: You may me the youngest, but it some ways you are the most important. Your job is to be cute and adorable . . . at the SAME TIME! Without your help the whole evening will positively fall to shambles.
Okay everybody, pick a night, and get to work! Once you have completed your responsibilities you must eat, drink, make yourselves merry and laugh yourselves silly as you enjoy watching Toy Story Three.
Love The Wagstaffs.

Little Sneak

I really should dedicate a separate blog just for Mason and his "hilarious" endeavors. Some of the comments you would find in that blog would be, "Where I found the poopy diaper this time", "For the 37th time, you don't get in the babies crib to make him happy when he's sleeping", "You don't crack all the eggs open to see if any are hard boiled" and "How many string cheese sticks can a 3 year-old eat without getting constipated"...

A few days ago Brianna caught Mason sneaking her saved Halloween candy from the top of the fridge, she thought getting evidence of the crime was more fun than stopping him.

Snow Day

On the last day of school before Winter break, we got so much snow that school was canceled. That's almost unheard of in Utah, but since most people couldn't get out of their driveways the district called a snow day. To the kids delight, Gabe took the day off and helped them build a snow fort. Depending on you who ask, it was a lot of fun. (One child in particular never cracks a single smile in the slide show)

"eenie meenie miny moe"

I have taken pictures of all of my kids between the age of 9 1/2 - 10 months for a photo display in my room. The first 3 children were fortunate enough to have professional pictures taken, the last two were stuck with my photo skills. I have 3 pictures of Gage that turned out decent and I was hoping to get feedback on which one I should choose.

It's great to be eight!?!

Hayden had the wonderful experience of being baptized by his grandfather, Terry Gosney on December 4th. I am grateful that Hayden made the choice to be baptized, for awhile he had some reservations. A few months ago when we were discussing his choice to be baptized, he asked me, "What are those things that will get washed away?" "Your sins?" I asked. "Ya those... I don't want them to wash away, I want to keep them." After a little more discussion he better understood the purpose and process of baptism, but his comment did make me realize that it is our mistakes that give us opportunity to grow. And sometimes we aren't ready to let go of them until we have completed the learning process and are ready to move forward.
